Mephedrone and the Law

meph5If you have ever wondered the legal implications of using the designer drug Mephedrone then you should read on in order to find out a little more about the implications in various country’s.

1. Israel – Here, during the month of December in 2007, this drug had been added into the list of controlled drugs in the country which meant that it became illegal to purchase, possess or sell.

2. Romania – On the 10th of February 2010, this country had revised its policys relating to drugs adding them to the list of high risk narcotic drugs. This means that the sale, possession, manufacture or distrbution of this drug can lead to punishment of between three and fifteen years in prison.

3. Sweden – Here, this drug has been classified as a hazardous substance or a health hazard and is pending legislation. It was banned on the 15th of December 2008 ensuring that it’s sale was made illegal. It was upgraded to narcotic status on the 15th of June 2009.

4. United Kingdom – Here, this drug is yet to be covered under the Drug Misuse Act of 1971 even though many psychiatrists have asked for it’s immediate ban. But, the drug cannot be sold for consumption by humans and thus, it is usually sold as food for your plants.
